Pyramid
Solitaire is a solitaire card game that is deceptively tricky. It is an
exciting mix of simple adding game and classic solitaire. It features a tableau
with a triangular shape comprising of overlapping rows. In addition, rather
than building up every suit, the aim of a player in this game is to match cards
so that they can form pairs adding up to 13. The game has different variations.
However, the rules are the same in all variations.
Features
There are four major features of this game. They are as
follows:
The
Pyramid
Pyramid
Solitaire has 28 cards that form a pyramid. These cards are in 7 rows. Cards in
the other row cover each card in the adjacent row partially. A player wins the
game after removing all cards from this Pyramid. However, not every game is
winnable. A game usually notifies the player whether they do not have a winning
chance.
The
Stock
At the bottom left side,
there is a facedown pile. This is used by the player to draw and put cards onto
the Waste. The best game possible with Pyramid
Solitaire is when the stock is not used but two cards are removed from
the Pyramid at a time. In such a case, the move counts are 14.
The
Waste
This is the face-up
pile that is adjacent to the Stock. Players can match cards that are on the
Waste in the Pyramid to remove Pyramid cards. For instance, a player can drag 4
from Waste to the open 9 on the Pyramid. Both of these cards can then be moved
to Foundation and eventually out of the game.
The
Foundation
This is the pile at the
bottom right side. This is where players put cards that they remove from the
Pyramid.
Allowed
moves
When playing Pyramid
Solitaire, you are allowed to flip cards onto the Waste from the
Stock. You are also allowed to move the top card on the Waste to the open
Pyramid. You can do this by dragging the top card on the Waste to the Pyramid
card so that you eventually remove both of them or click on the Waste card
first then click on the Pyramid card.
A player is also
allowed to move the Pyramid card onto a different Pyramid card when both cards
are available and not covered by other cards. The game also allows you to move
Pyramid cards onto a covering Pyramid card. Other moves that are allowed in Pyramid Solitaire include resetting
empty stock, moving King to a Foundation and unlimited undos.
