How to Spend 5 Days in Paris

Paris is an amazing city that can take a lifetime to explore. Some people spend weeks in this city and leave without even scratching its surface. Perhaps, the most fascinating thing about Paris is that, when you think you have seen it all, you realize that there are new attractions, new markets, or new cafes to explore. It is impossible to see everything during your trip to this city. Thousands of travelers have visited Paris for three days with the hope of seeing all highlights of this city. You need to spend at least five days in this city to explore it and see what it has to offer. Here are guidelines on how to spend 5 days in Paris.

Day One

Upon your arrival, check in to your hotel, relax and then have your meals. You can take a nap if you feel tired. After this, walk around to know the major sights in Paris. You can start from the Champs Elysees. This will give you a beautiful view of Arch de Triumph.

While walking along Champs Elysees via Jardin des Tuilleries, you will have a chance to enjoy a magnificent view of Louvre and then go down the Rue Rivoli before crossing the original part of the City of Light.

Have a view of the Gothic church as you visit the Notre Dame. The Bell Tower might have lines so try to get there on time. Visit the Saint-Chapelle Church and the Roman ruins. After this, head southwards to Latin Quarter. This is one of the most beautiful parts of Paris with a labyrinth of cafes and alleys.

Visit Pantheon and then head westward to Jardin du Luxembourg. Relax alongside other tourists while here. After spending some time there head northwards to Saint Sulplice. Try to look for the hidden meanings of the symbols in this church. If you are not interested in the symbols, you can just marvel at their grandiose.

At this time, it is already late and you are probably ready to rest. Stop over a café for some wine and spend a few minutes there relaxing.

Day Two

Use your second day in Paris visiting its popular museums. These include the Louvre museum that has more than one million artistic pieces. You can spend hours in this museum and still not get enough of it. Therefore, restrict yourself so that you can spend limited time in the museum.

Visit the Musee D’Orsay. This is situated near Louvre Museum. It has the best impressionists as well as post-impressionists artistic works in Paris. The museum has masterpieces from different artists including Monet, Degas, Van Gogh and Manet.

Musee de l’Orangerie is another major museum in Paris. It displays tapestry water lilies painting in oval rooms. The images were painted by Monet and each of them represents a particular season and day. There are other artistic works in the bottom floor of the museum.

Day Three

During your third day in Paris, visit the Palace of Versailles. This attraction is situated outside Paris but you can easily get there in a train. Spend your day exploring the surrounding gardens and chateau. If you want to avoid people’s traffic, do your things in reverse.

Day Four

In your fourth day in Paris, visit the Catacombs. Catacombs are fascinating but they can be a grim attraction. The endless tunnels have many bones going for miles. The bones are a morbid attraction and they will give you insight into Paris history. Sometimes Catacombs are closed so it is advisable that you check on time before going on a trip there.

From the catacombs, visit the Montmartre. This is an artistic center in Paris where you can shop for artistic pieces and then head towards the Moulin Rouge and then to the famous Pere-Lachaise Graveyard. The graveyard has graves of famous celebrities such as Sarah Bernhardt, Antonio de La Gandara and Jim Morrison among others.

Day Five

In your last day in Paris visit the Eiffel Tower, Rue Cler and the Paris sewer. Eiffel Tower is a major attraction in Paris and it draws people from all parts of the globe. From the Tower, you can head to the Rue Cler. This street has a wide range of Parisian eateries. You will find bread, chocolate, vegetables, meat and cheese stores to visit.

Finish your trip with an underground tour of the Paris sewer system to learn about its history and how it functions.

Paris has a lot to offer visitors. You cannot cover all the attractions in five days. Nevertheless, this guide on how to spend 5 days in Paris will enable you to make the most from your trip to the City of Light.
